VERSION CHANGE LOG HIGHLIGHTS (Not all changes listed)

Author's note: You will find some additional functionality with the new version 2.21 now available as a full version download.  I continue to get emails from people wanting to run Dmapper on the newer versions of Windows, such as Vista and Win7.  Dmapper was first written over 10 years ago and I honestly thought there would have been a mapping software vendor by now that would have added support for APRS.  Unfortunately this has not happened or is not affordable to the typical SAR volunteer or Amateur radio operator.  For that reason I have continued development of Dmapper for the Windows XP platform.  

NOTE: DMAPPER will post to OziExplore while running in the Vista/Win7 environment.  (Install in a user directory and not "program files" dir)

Going beyond XP means a total re-write of the software and many more hours of refinement to the new code.  As this is a labor of love and not one of profit, I have to balance my time between upgrades and maintenance to the existing 2.x version and beginning to write the new 3.x version. All this must fit within my personal and professional obligations in my real job.  I truly love doing this for the hundreds of Dmapper users out there and really appreciate your support and patience through what has turned in to a very satisfying project.  I hope you enjoy these latest updates to Dmapper.

VERSION 2.21 11/20/2011 (Full Program update)      NOW SUPPORT FOR "LIVE" OZIEXPLORER POSTING WITH DMAPPER IN THE BACKGROUND.

'Added BETA functionality for OziExplorer.  Dmapper will now post "immediately" to the Ozi map as positions come in by using the OziAPI functions.   If a waypoint already exists, Dmapper will tell Ozi to delete and re-post. "Tracks" are not available, only the current position. Tactical callsigns are not yet active for this function.  Ozi live posting uses the current PC date/time for the "date/time" in waypoints when created and the waypoint "description" is populated with the incoming APRS dataline.The "Capture All" feature will also work with Ozi but I have found there is eventually a limit to the waypoints that stops the program. (Still work to do but fun to watch the map fill up)    NOTE: A full version install is needed to get the OziAPI.dll installed, unless you use the Dmapper "Help" menu's <check for updates> option for internet connected computers.

'This version includes detection of the Commercial GPS mic with the GPWGT string.  There has been limited testing but it seems to receive positions and has a limited message receiving capability. Sending messages from Dmapper is not included with this version.   When detected, Dmapper will should create a file called "dmapperGPWGT.txt" with the other dmappper data files, and also post to the screen as with other incoming APRS type strings.

This new full version is now compressed using the WinZip self extracting file utility resulting in additional prompt screens prior to install.

'This version includes minor code to detect the Commercial GPS mic with the GPWGT string.  As of this publish date, there has been no testing with an actual mic over the air.  If detected, it should create a file called "dmapperGPWGT.txt" with the other dmappper data files, and also display the callsign.  NO ADDITIONAL DECODING IS FUNCTIONAL AT THIS TIME.

VERSION 2.13 02/12/2005 (Full Version & Install files)

****TELNET APRS-IS SERVER SUPPORT:

NEW: Added "SendData" line to the telnet connect that sends a logon to the javAPRSSrvr. Login command line includes "user W7PDQ pass -1 vers Dmapper Vx.xx.xx"
Telnet setup to include a request for the loginname.

CHANGE: Added a telnet and com data COLOR label next to the incoming data box. So users can tell if the data is coming from the network (internet) server or from the com port.

****TNC CONFIGURATION / STRING PROCESSING:

NEW: DoubleClicking Letter label (A-H) next to location box will put raw string back in incoming text box so it can be reimported for testing. Once a string is displayed in the incoming data box, a user can double click it to reprocess the string.

CHANGE: Dmapper will nowIGNORE UI codes rather than warn user to turn off MCOM.

CHANGE: HEADERLN Both tnc Options (ON or OFF) handled.

****DMAPPER CONFIGURATION FILE CHANGES:

CHANGE: Now stores the current Dmapper version as "DMVERSION" in config file for more smarter updating by the Dupdate utility.

****TACTICAL NAMES

'NEW: Added ability to post TACTICAL NAMES to the maps in MapTech and other maps. (Note: Option only available to REGISTERED USERS)

NEW: TacticalNames Checkbox added... When checked it will cause the TACTICAL NAMES to be used for the map marker's label name rather than the letter designations.
By default, Dmapper assign a name "Tac A-H" letter to any BLANK tactical name slots.IE "TacB"

Info: The MapTech "Route" display shows Tactical Names as waypoints and the Route name as the Callsign.

If the selected map will not work with this option, the checkbox will not be visible.

****MOVING POSITION TRACKING FILTER (Registered users only)

NEW: A new checkbox was added that will tell dmapper to only store map data for those stations that are GREEN in the last heard box to indicate a new or MOVING station.
This will prevent multiple duplicate plotting of non moving stations on top of each other.

The track moving checkboxstatus is saved to the config file.

****MAP DISPLAY OPTIONS

CHANGE: Selection of what data formats to display to the map is now made easier using option buttons.

NEW: Includes new option to DRAW LINES BETWEEN TRACK POINTS in MapTech

'NEW: Built new "dmapperhistory.rxf" ROUTE file. This file is the same as the mxf marker file only, when posted to the maptech map, it will draw lines between the position points.

****MISC CHANGES

CHANGE: Minor changes to clean-up top menu to allow more sub menus for data management.

CHANGE: The HELP-ABOUT menu now displays the current version and copyright information.

'FIX: Refresh options added to "browse for files to import" process so most current files show properly.

Ver 2.12b11 (FULL UPDATE DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL REQUIRED FOR UPDATES FROM PRIOR VERSIONS) 1/1/2005

In order to assure users obtain all the new accessory files that go with this update of Dmapper, we are requiring a FULL DOWNLOAD of the insall files which include all the extras.

CHANGE: Improved the telnet server configuration, start and stop connection processes.

CHANGE: Improved how Dmapper controls the map program to make it more efficient and easier to setup.

CHANGE: Better control over which map "data files" to create via a menu selection.

NEW FEATURE: Activated TACTICAL NAME text boxes for Info only designations for each unit.

NEW FEATURE: WinHelp has been added with a general help file (F1) and also some context help for certain text boxes.

Ver 2.12b9 10/10/2004

CHANGE: Made several code changes as a result of a program performance audit that should result in improved operation.

NEW FEATURE: The raw data display box will change colors based on source of data. IE: Data from Com port will be BLUE and telnet data PINK.

NEW: Dmapper creates "dmapperNGTOPOnowCall.txt" which is the same format of other TOPO! files only it includes the CALLSIGN as the label so it can be used in the NOW format.

Ver 2.12b8 09/24/2004

NEW FEATURE: Added menu item "prevent dupes". When selected (default) will check for incoming dupe lines. If same data line seen with same "minute" in timestamp, save will be skipped. This will screen out individual positions being received more than once per minute.

NEW FEATURE: Added Menu FILE-MAPS-* items that allow turning on/off individual map data file creation. This will speed up dmapper string processing and saving.

NEW FEATURE: Added menu item to check for updates under the HELP menu. (Uses the D-Update utility that comes with later versions)

NEW FEATURE: Created capture_all_callsigns option. This will cause callid boxes to clear repeatedly so new incoming callsigns will fill them in and post to the map data.

NEW FEATURE: CREATED THE NatGeoTOPO! and STREET ATLAS 5.0 *NOW* FILES. "dmapper*now.*". The *NOW* file selections cause the screen to clear all waypoints and re-post the current position points of each tracked unit only. "Tracks" are not shown, only their last position reported.
